Arianna Beretta is a student at the University of Trento, she had the honour to receive the Erasmus+ Scholarship for the University of Helsinki. Her research and interests are directed towards the relations between the EU area and the Eurasia region, especially considering the uses and politics of history, human rights and contemporary major issues. Regarding her current projects, she is board member and Secretary General of the Trento Model United Nations for the 2027 edition.
The Indus Waters Treaty showed that shared rivers could survive geopolitical rivalry. India’s 2025 decision to place the treaty in “abeyance” challenges that legacy, revealing how water can become a tool of grey-zone statecraft, coercive leverage, and a precedent with consequences beyond South Asia.

The article argues that the Iranian War has reshaped Eurasian logistics, increasing the strategic importance of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan while creating new partnership opportunities for Western countries.
