Commitment to further collaboration in multiple fields
Chinese Premier Li Qiang and Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin came together yesterday to discuss their comprehensive partnership, reaffirming their strategic cooperation in industry, culture and international affairs.
Their encounter marked the 31st regular meeting of the countries’ heads of government, and took place on the 25th anniversary of the Treaty of Good-Neighbourliness, Friendship and Cooperation. Herein both countries have committed to collaborate in the United Nations Security Council, bilateral security commitments and a non-interference in internal affairs.
Signalling the commitment both countries hold towards each other, the Chinese Foreign Ministry stated that “China and Russia have in recent years stood side by side and moved forward together in the face of a complex and turbulent international landscape.”
Unwavering support through bilateral cooperation
The communiqué both countries have signed is expected to hold a core focus on mutual benefit, win-win cooperation and mutual respect. Among collaborative projects in areas such as space, technology, economy and the Arctic, this consolidates the unwavering support both countries hold to one another, regardless of their internal and international affairs.
A Chinese statement describes their bilateral collaboration to “have leveraged more dynamic and resilient cooperation to cushion the impact of external uncertainties and instability.” Whilst this refers to their joint efforts in development, economy and infrastructure it also implies the substantial economic, technological, and material support Beijing has provided to Russia regarding its war of aggression in the Ukraine.
